Students at St. Francis of Assisi Academy in Marereni celebrated World Environment Day through hands-on activities that promoted care for creation. Learners cleaned their school compound, planted flowering plants, and explored simple ways to protect the environment.

In this video, Grade four learner Elvis Baraka shares what he learned about the importance of caring for the environment and why everyone has a role to play in keeping communities clean and healthy.

St. Francis of Assisi Academy in Kenya is run by the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth, whose mission includes care for all creation and working for a more just and peaceful world. Through education, students are encouraged to become responsible stewards of the environment and active members of their communities.

Sisters in Kenya are doing a wonderful job of educating students at St. Francis of Assisi Academy on care for Earth. Thank you, Sisters, for not only living into the mission to care for all creation and to work for ecological justice, but for passing on those values to your students!
