Botswana has dedicated the month of September for the wellness of the people, as the country celebrates its Independence on Sept. 30. Nationwide daily prayers are held in all the village “Kgotlas” throughout the month, praying especially for the sick.
During the month of September, Pabalelong Hospice reconnected with all those who have been admitted to the Hospice for respite and rehabilitation care – those who have been discharged and are back at home. Some have recovered from their ill health and are leading a normal life, some are ambulant with the assistance of a walking frame or a wheelchair, and some are still bedridden. SCNs and the Hospice staff visited them and their families and spent some quality time with them. They visited around 40 patients who were within their reach- within a range of 40 kilometers. They also gave small gift hampers to the patients. This was a joyful and memorable experience, not only for the patients but also for the SCNs and the staff of the hospice.
