Anne Rita Mauck, SCN, 90, was born in Bridgeport, Ohio. She died in Louisville, KY, at Nazareth Home on Monday, August 28, 2017. Sister Anne Rita had been a professed Sister of Charity of Nazareth for 69 years.

Sister Anne Rita served in the ministry of education at St. Joseph School in Morganza, MD and at Sacred Heart Academy in Helena, AR. In Louisville, she served in education ministries at St. Patrick School and was principal at St. Gabriel School. In 1970, Sister Anne Rita founded The de Paul School in Louisville-one of the nation’s first schools to serve students with dyslexia and learning differences. She served as executive director until 1994 and continued to serve the school as a board member and volunteer until her death. Sister also served her SCN Community as the director of the Associate Program and was later elected to SCN leadership as head of the Southern Region.

Sister Anne Rita is survived by several nieces and nephews, her religious community, and by the many persons whose lives she touched.

Visitation will be held at Ratterman Funeral Home, 3800 Bardstown Road, Louisville, KY, from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, August 31. A prayer service will be held at the funeral home at 4:30 p.m.

Visitation will also be held in St. Vincent Church at Nazareth on Friday, September 1 from 9-10 a.m.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, September 1 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Vincent Church, Nazareth, KY, followed by burial in Nazareth Cemetery.
