Volunteers Reunite in Ohio: Reflect on Mission Work

On July 13, Sister Luke Boiarski joined a group of 30 volunteers and supporters at St. Ambrose Church in Belpre, Ohio. They gathered to reconnect and reflect on shared experiences from service trips to Belize.

The Sisters of Charity of Nazareth Volunteer Ministry partners with the San Miguel Arcangel Missions, founded by Mark and Cindy Rhonemus, to build homes and serve those in need. St. Ambrose Parish has long supported this mission, contributing both volunteers and financial support.

The day began with Mass celebrated by Father David Huffman. Volunteers then enjoyed a luncheon prepared by Becky Hennen and Marsha Hutson. The group later formed a prayer circle to share memories and reflections from Belize.

The gathering was organized by Rita Rodgers, a longtime volunteer on many trips. Attendees expressed gratitude for the meaningful time together.

The Gospel reading that day was the Parable of the Good Samaritan. As stories were shared, many noted the parallel between the reading and the group’s work with the poor, homeless, and overlooked.

May we continue to be mindful and responsive to those in our world who are most in need.
