Let Your Light Shine

The Sisters of Charity of Nazareth Lay Mission Volunteer Program recently led volunteers on a week-long mission immersion. The Volunteer Program invites lay women and men of all ages to go with us in mission to deepen one’s spirituality, broaden one’s vision, grow in appreciation of other cultures and stir in one’s heart the desire of lifelong service to others.

Shelter Me O God

“In the evenings, we reflected on our day and prayed for the young women we will never meet. In our hearts, we feel that we gave them a place to call home.”

Reflections on Mission Experience

“I share these thoughts to encourage all Associates to experience a trip through the SCN Volunteer Program. I know that many of you have served on numerous domestic and global trips and could add to this reflection. Let’s share our experiences and thus spread the charism of charity.”

Sister Luke and volunteers back in the news

“This is about our mission at the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth, we are about serving those in need, especially women and children.”

Disaster Relief

The Sisters of Charity of Nazareth have a long tradition of responding in times of disaster. Historically Sisters have responded to flooding in Louisville, the yellow fever epidemic, monsoons in India, a hurricane in Belize, and an earthquake in Nepal. Continuing in this spirit, the SCN Disaster Relief Program invites volunteers to offer spiritual and physical support to persons experiencing a disaster. Sisters and volunteers respond in the same spirit of Vincent de Paul with reverence for each person and witness to God’s presence in the midst of adversity. The Disaster Relief Program provides an opportunity to put faith into action.
