Sister Asrita Lugun, SCN, is currently pursuing her bachelor’s degree at the College of Social Work (Autonomous) Nirmala Niketan, Mumbai, Maharashtra. She has been actively involved in all the college events, such as sports, volunteer programs and was awarded the winner of Discuss Throw.

Being the class representative, she was selected for a one-day training on Social Investigation Report as per JJ Act 2015 (Juvenile Justice), which was held on April 24, 2023, at the College of Social Work Nirmala Niketan, Churchgate, Mumbai.

Sister Asrita was awarded three Certificates and a medal from the CSWNN. She shares her experience and learnings from JJ Act training with the following statement:

“In this training, representatives from five Colleges were involved. It was based on Child in Conflict with Law (CCL), Children in Need of Care and Protection (CNCP) and Child Welfare Committee (CWCs). The takeaways from this training were that, firstly, it is essential to keep the documents of the SIR Act while working with different sectors. It broadened my understanding of the deeper meaning or issues of a child in the family, community and in the society. Being a social worker, it is vital to know some of the rules-regulation while working with the Agencies, NGOs, Private and Government sectors. Each individual is responsible to better understand our Indian Constitutions, policies and act on it which was best taught through group discussions and case-study presentations. This training urged the participants to fight for truth, seek dignity and justice for humanity.”
