Above, the newly built house for Shakira, Trevon, Chloe, and R.J Neal
During this season of Lent, the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth led volunteers to build a house in Belize for a family in great need. In doing this work they say they have felt humbled and blessed to have had the opportunity.
Sister Luke, the team leader, said, “Each day brought challenges as the weather varied from downpours of rain to extreme heat and humidity, however, each day also brought wonderful opportunities.”
The team of volunteers was able to provide a home for a family while forming relationships with the people they encountered while they worked and during their stay. They also had a chance to reflect on their own values and priorities in life and share their blessings with those in need. The volunteers left the comfort of their own home to serve others and in return made memories and relationships that will be cherished for a lifetime.
