SCN Associate Prayer

Loving and Eternal God,
Creator and Sustainer of all that is,
thank you for the gift of life in this Your
beautiful and wondrous world.

Help all SCNs and Associates to live
in harmony with your will and to work for justice
and peace in our world. Strengthen our desire
to love you more fully by serving others in a spirit of
humility, simplicity and charity. Like Vincent, Louise
and Catherine, may Christ always be the source and
model of our love. May our union with other Associates
and SCNs around the world, give us inspiration and joy
in our life’s work.

Guide us by your Divine Providence so that
we may be a blessing to all whom we meet.
Give comfort and healing to those who are sick,
rest and renewal to those who are weary, and
strength to all to live this day for you in Christ’s name.

The SCN Associates gathered over the weekend, September 24-26. The weekend offered quality time to get acquainted with Associates and SCNs in a congenial atmosphere where there was a balance of education, prayer, reflection and fun.

The weekend held many highlights for the Associates and Sisters. 7 women and men made their Associate First Commitments. Twenty-eight Associates made their Renewal of Commitments. And the blessing of the New SCN Associate Director, Jo Ann Paulin, SCNA, was held. The blessing was led by former Associate Director, Peggy Masterson.

The presenter for the weekend retreat was by Marilyn Shea, SCN, who spoke on the topic “Mystics on the Move-What Does it Mean Anyway.” Sr. Marilyn led the conferences throughout the weekend.

The SCN Family includes an important group of lay people who make an extra commitment to make a real difference in the world. We call them SCN Associates. They are men and women of all faiths and backgrounds who commit to living out the SCN Mission in their own lives, to deepen their spirituality, to build community with other SCN Associates and SCNs and to reach out in compassionate service to others in the tradition of Vincent de Paul, Louise de Marillac and Catherine Spalding. There are 180 Associates in the US (representing 23 states) plus 7 Associates in Botswana, 35 in Belize and several Candidates.
