Republic Day commemorates the declaration of Nepal as a republic, abolishing a 240-year-old monarchy. It was on May 28, 2008, that the first Constituent Assembly meeting took place. This year, observation of Republic Day falls on Sunday, May 29, but various programs and celebrations will be held in the country on May 28, 29 and 30. The Sisters of Charity of Nazareth are present in Nepal, with ministries in education and health care.
In a Remote Belizean Village, the Spirit of St. Vincent de Paul Thrives
The village of San Vincente, located on the edge of the Guatemalan border, might appear to be an unexpected locale to find the enduring spirit of St. Vincent de Paul. Yet, it’s here that a small but vibrant Catholic Church, named in honor of the saint, stands as a symbol of his legacy.
Happy Republic Day to all in Nepal. Such wonderful memories of my visits to Nepal,
May peace surround the country.
Enjoy the freedom of Nepal. God has created us to live with religious, social and political freedom. It is our birthright. So celebrate the day with full festivities.
