June 28 was a “Red Letter Day” for the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth in Ranchi. Patna Provincial Sister Latika Kottuppallil, accompanied Vice Provincial Sister Basanti Lakra to Nazareth Convent Ranchi. The whole Ranchi Community along with the candidates welcomed the leaders at the entrance to the chapel. They were led in a procession with song and dance to the entrance where they were welcomed with an arti, tika and garland. The main welcoming program took place in the hall in the evening beginning with a beautiful prayer service based on the scriptural qualities of leadership. The prayer service ended with the installation of Sister Basanti as vice provincial when she cut the ribbon to her office and was handed the keys of the office by Sister Latika.

Sister Latika symbolically passed on the flame of leadership to Sister Basanti by handing her the arti plate. After a short break, all gathered in the hall for a lively program of song and dance by the candidates and Sisters. Sister Sarala Anithottathil, coordinator and the administrator of the house, felicitated the welcoming for Sisters Latika, Basanti Lakra and Arpita, the latter as new members of the Ranchi SCN local community. The evening ended with the delicious meal amidst lots of fun and laughter.
