Continue Sister Paula’s Legacy of Care

Ten years after the tragic loss of Sister Paula Merrill in Mississippi, her compassion continues through the people and communities she served.

For more than 30 years, Sister Paula ministered in Mississippi, including many years as a nurse practitioner at the Lexington Medical Clinic in Holmes County. She cared for people who often struggled to afford medical care and made sure no one was turned away because they could not pay.

Following her death, a memorial fund was created to continue this work. On the 10th anniversary of her passing, the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth are renewing the Sister Paula Merrill Memorial Fund.

Paula Merrill, SCN, and Margaret Held, SSSF, served together in Mississippi, caring for people in communities with limited access to health care. Both Sisters were tragically killed in their home in August 2016. The people they served continue to remember their lives and ministries.

Your gift will help provide healthcare to an estimated 200 people in the Mississippi community where Sister Paula served.

Please consider making a special gift in Sister Paula’s memory and help continue the compassionate care she shared with others.
