Nazareth Hospital in Mokama, India, led by the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth since 1947, seeks support for community health and outreach programs – where every contribution goes towards saving lives and empowering communities, connecting us more deeply to God during this sacred period of Lent.

It is a place that has become a beacon of hope and healing in India – Nazareth Hospital in Mokama. As beautifully narrated by Jyoti Thottam in her book “Sisters of Mokama,” this hospital, under the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth, has been a pivotal point of transformation in this region since 1947. Thottam writes, “In a place where despair was once the norm, the Sisters brought a message of hope and a demonstration of care that transcended barriers.” This message of hope is what the Sisters strive to continue today and strengthen with your support.

Suman Kumari, an 18-year-old student, was a victim of superstition in her small village in Bihar. Blaming “evil spirits,” she was left to die in a critical state with a bacterial infection in her brain and spinal cord. By the grace of God, she was brought to Nazareth Hospital by a priest and her mother. Thanks to timely intervention and compassionate care, Suman recovered from this life-threatening tuberculous meningitis and is now an example of hope. This is the change the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth strive to bring about every day.

Outreach in Mokama

Will you support the outreach activities of Nazareth Hospital and its teams in Sangsay, Sokho, Bakhtiarpur, and Mokama? The Sisters of Charity of Nazareth’s mission is to create systemic change for oppressed people through these outreach programs, eliminate harmful practices, and promote health awareness in these communities. Our goal is to raise $25,500 for the Sisters to make a significant impact over the course of one year of activities.

Your support is not just a donation but an invitation to join a community united in a mission of love and service. Together, we can continue the legacy of hope and healing that the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth have courageously carried forward since their arrival in Mokama over 75 years ago.

Thank you.

Thank you for considering this vital cause. Together, we can help save lives and empower communities.
