Breath of Life
In the heart of service, the LIFE Belize organization shines, not just giving seniors a lifeline, but granting them the dignity and joy of living independently in full existence.
A heartfelt video thank you from Sister Carlette, founder of LIFE Belize, expressing deep gratitude for your overwhelming support during our recent campaign. Stay tuned! https://t.co/omT8fK8pfW pic.twitter.com/PoqfUmROlU

LIFE Belize improves seniors’ quality of life in Belize City’s Southside through essential services. Founded by Sister Carlette Gentle, the organization dedicates itself to continuing to grow its impact for senior support.

Ms. Iris
For many years Ms. Iris was very lonely. She felt at times that the solitude was too much for her to take. Looking through the bars of her fenced-in porch, Ms. Iris describes it as a “prison” at times. Often she felt alone with no one to talk to. Ms. Iris is one of many seniors facing this issue in Belize City’s Southside, struggling with transportation, social isolation, medical care, and food access.
Two-thirds of the elderly in Belize City’s Southside live with family but lack companionship and transportation. Almost half of them (48%) face medical problems and barriers to care, nearly three-fourths (74%) suffer from food insecurity and one-fourth (24%) eat two or fewer meals daily. Urgent action is needed to address these challenges and prioritize their well-being.

Breathing Life into Aging
As a Sister of Charity of Nazareth, I founded Living Independently in Full Existence (LIFE) eight years ago to address these alarming stats and give Ms. Iris and others like her a breath of life, the support, dignity, and independence we all deserve. LIFE is a unique ministry dedicated to improving the quality of life for older adults in Belize. The ministry provides essential services and supports those in need, helping to transform lives and make a real difference in the community.
Support and Empowerment
Thanks to the support of LIFE, Ms. Iris no longer feels alone. She can enjoy a better quality of life and maintain her independence, which is important to her. When the driver of the LIFE bus pulls up and calls out her name, she feels happy. Ms. Iris enjoys being with her peers, sharing stories, and playing bingo. She leads the group in prayer and song and always has a smile to share.
We started with a vision to improve the lives of 25 aging adults. Today we serve over 100. As the elderly population continues to grow, so do the costs, making it challenging to provide services to all who need them. We need your help to continue our ministry of helping our elderly in Belize live with dignity and independence. With your support, we can make a difference in their lives.
Will you make a gift of support to provide essential services and social support to those aging in Belize City? Your donation of any amount will give hope to those who need it.

The Sisters of Charity of Nazareth thank you for your consideration. May God bless you for your kindness and support.
