Br. Renato Lima De Oliveira, the president general of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul (SSVP) accompanied by his vice president, Br. Joe Makunya, paid a three-day visit to Botswana. During his stay in the country he visited a few of the SSVP Conferences at different parts of the country. He also visited the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth, the only congregation in Botswana belonging to the Vincentian Family. During his visit with the SCNs, a large number of Vincentian members accompanied him. Sisters briefed him on the history and charism of the congregation, the history of their presence in Botswana, and their life and ministries in the country. He also had a tour of the hospice. The president general was very appreciative of the life and service of the SCNs. In his address to the group he said that he was giving a new name to the Sisters – not Sisters of Charity of Nazareth, but Sisters of Charity of St. Vincent.
