Volunteers from Presentation Academy in Louisville, Kentucky, joined the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth in Belize for a volunteer immersion experience. The group returned to a home built by the SCN Lay Mission Volunteer Program four years ago. They finished painting Señorita Inez’s house. “Inez’s eyes sparkled as she watched the young women add a beautiful color of blue to her home,” says Sister Luke Boiarski, director of the program.

Across the road from the worksite is the Martinez house, another home built and sponsored by SCN Volunteers this past January. Thanks to the generosity of the students from Father Andrew White, S.J. School in Leonardtown, Maryland, this project will be completed as well.

The next couple of days the Presentation girls will be assisting at. St. Michael’s School. Sister Luke says, “We stopped by for a short visit to meet Mrs. Joan Sanchez, the principal. The students of standard one were excited to sing their National Anthem for us! They stood ever so proud.”

“As I travel down the roads in Las Flores, I am constantly reminded of the wonderful ministry that our Sisters Paschal, Rosemarie Kirwan and Carlette began and continues through the leadership group they established in this area,” says Sister Luke.

What happiness it give to see news and photos of the work of Pres girls where people most need your help! And how very proud of you Mother Catherine and the early Sisters would be! Obviously you have caught their spirit of loving service to recognize the greatest needs and to stretch yourselves and your resources to meet them. Thank you from all Sisters of Charity of Nazareth for your share in our mission to a wonderful people.

Pres girls, I’m proud of you. I hope you will always remember this trip. Did you get to see our church, St. Michael’s, in Las Flores or the library that the people started, and built? How they worked on both projects.

Hello Rosemarie, we pres girls have loved and enjoy the time we have had interacting with the people of Las Flores. It was an experience that will be remembered forever. The relationships with the people developed have impacted us more than we could have ever imagined. We are looking forward to be back in Las Flores and continue the relationships developed. Thank You!!!
