Sisters Latika and Mary Margaret Nirmala participated in the National Assembly of the Conference of Religious India from May 14-16, 2024, held at Christ University in Bangalore.

“Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls.” – Jeremiah 6:16

With the theme “Journeying with Hope: Relevance and Our Prophetic Response,” the words of Jeremiah inspired those present to pursue self-discovery, tackle challenges, and reorient and revitalize their religious commitments and goals. The Assembly aimed to identify common purposes, address issues, find solutions, and create a sense of unity and solidarity.

The Assembly provided a moment to recognize our commonalities and collective energies, as well as to seek renewed ways of being relevant. The presence of both religious and laypersons involved in unconventional ministries brought a tangible sense of relevance to our midst. The sessions, interspersed with timely Spiritual Conversations in groups, allowed us to internalize the presentations deeply. Sisters Latika and Mary Margaret Nirmala are deeply grateful for this hope-filled opportunity to network with approximately 650 major superiors representing over 150,000 religious women and men in India.
