Mary Jude Milko, SCN, passed into eternity on November 6, 2015, at the age of 92 and in the 68th year of her religious life. She originally entered the Congregation of the Vincentian Sisters of Charity in 1947 from St. Vincent Church in Latrobe, Pennsylvania.
Sister Mary Jude served in the Dioceses of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Montgomery, Alabama in a variety of ministries including health care, housekeeping, kindergarten teacher, child care instructor, and also baking hosts at the Motherhouse.
Although Sister Mary Jude retired in 1995, she continued to serve the residents at Vincentian Regency Nursing Home as a volunteer activities aide. After an extended illness, she became a resident at the Vincentian Home, where she spent her final days in prayer ministry.
Sister had a soft-spoken, gentle manner with a quiet wit. Her love of children was evident in her motherly care of the children at St. Anthony School for Exceptional Children in Oakmont, Pennsylvania and St. Jude Educational Center in Montgomery, Alabama.
Sister Mary Jude was preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Mary Milko, and her siblings Dorothy, Joseph, and Jacqueline. She is survived by her brother, James, and sister-in-law, Joanna, nephew, nieces, and cousins and her religious community
Friends were received at Saint Louise Convent, on Sunday, November 8 from 2 to 8 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial was offered in the convent chapel on Monday, November 9 at 11 a.m., followed by interment in the Sister’s cemetery on the convent grounds.
