Living Independently in Full Existence officially opens
Congratulations to Carlette Gentle, SCN, on the official opening of LIFE ministry for the elderly in Belize City and blessing of the van provided by generous donors to the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth. Sisters and friends gathered together for the grand celebration as Channel 7 News in Belize reported on the occasion.

On Friday Jan. 29, 2016, about 100 people gathered to take part in the inauguration ceremony and the blessing for the van for LIFE. The ceremony started off with the national anthem followed by an opening prayer by Bishop Christopher Glancy. Trude Ann Middeton a staff member of LIFE did the welcome address. This was followed by the opening remarks done by Barbara Flores, SCN. Sister Carlette then spoke about the ministry of LIFE. Two members shared testimony of their experience of being a part of LIFE. After which Bishop Glancy blessed the building, the people and the new van.
With feelings of great excitement the ribbon was cut on the building by Ix-Chel Poot from the Council on Aging and Sister Carlette got the honor of cutting the ribbon on the van as applause broke out. The vote of thanks was done by Ms. Eva Middleton, the LIFE office assistant. After which a demonstration of the lift was done by the driver Lyndon Gentle as smiles and laughter along with clapping and cheering broke out. One of the seniors told Sister Carlette, “Thank you for working so hard to help us. I feel like you’re my daughter.”
It was a day to be proud of. Lunch was served at the end of the celebration. It was a beautiful day, a great celebration, and a wonderful turnout.
Sister Carlette says, “Thank you to all those who made this day possible. We could not have done it without you!”
Carlette, this brought back memories and the time I shared with many of you last October. Congratulations! on you and all your accomplishments. I hope all are recovering from “Earl”. Blessings on you and those you serve!
