LIFE (Living Independently in Full Existence) had its annual Christmas party for seniors in Belize. Unfortunately, because of Covid, people could not gather so they had to take the party to them. 100 Hampers were packed with flour, rice, beans, cornflakes, Maggie soup, shortening baking powder, powdered milk, mac and cheese, ramen noodles, soap, soap powder, Clorox, toilet paper, and toothpaste. 100 Black cakes and 100 white cakes were made. A traditional Christmas meal of rice and beans, stewed chicken, potato salad, stuffing, ham, and cranberry sauce was also cooked and packed for each senior. In addition, fresh oranges were squeezed and a refreshing cold bottle of orange juice was given to each senior along with a red and green apple. To top it off, each senior received handmade Christmas cards with a special message just for them. Executive director, Carlette Gentle, SCN, reports that the day was filled with laughter, memory sharing, gratitude, and overall love. She thanks all who made the celebration possible!
Carlette,
What more can be said, you and your team (and many others) helped to make Christmas and the holiday season one to remember for so many. To have both black and white cake is a real gift.
What a story, Carlette! You and your team must have been baking every day since you got back. The pictures are excellent — even the London Bridge. Please thank the whole team for all they have done.
Carlette, you are so inspiring! May God bless and keep you and the people of Belize!
It is very inspiring Carlette to read about your efforts to bring Christmas Joy to the Senior citizens – God bless LIFE !
Carlette, thanks for doing this for the LIFE group! You are an inspiration!
Wow! I am SO excited to see the pictures and hear the story! I remember so many fun Christmas parties. So glad you didn’t let CoVid stop you…just “do it a different way”!
Congratulations, Carlette and TEAM!!!
