An Ecological Retreat of Transformation and Responsibility

Bangalore Communications Office

We floated in the gravity-less realms of space, dived into the depths of the oceans and climbed the heights of the mountains. We watched the trees, plants, and flowers, admired the flapping of the wings of the small birds, and heard the mighty roaring of the lions. We broke bread and drank wine, washed one another’s feet, fathomed the inexhaustibly expanding universe, contemplated in the deep silence of our hearts, and watched thought-provoking movies.

All this and more were the experiences of 31 SCNs of Bangalore Province who made an ecological retreat under the guidance of Brother Sunil Britto of the Congregation of the Christian Brothers from May 26 to June 1, 2024.

In every respect, this retreat was different, but enabling us to get into an inescapable mode of responsibility to care for our common home and to be agents of change to bring this about. The theme of the 2023 General Assembly resonated through the retreat as we kept pondering the Diversity, Interiority, and Communion experienced in the universe all the time.

The participants remain immensely grateful to Brother Sunil Britto and the Province Leadership for arranging such an unforgettable opportunity. They hope the knowledge and wisdom they gained during the retreat will translate into meaningful actions.
