Help Sisters Empower and Educate
The Sisters of Charity of Nazareth have always believed in the importance of education and empowering others, especially women. In Botswana, Sisters have selected four women to receive support for continuing their education. Formal education will enhance the natural gifts and aspirations of these young women.
Their lives are inspiring as witnessed by the Sisters ministering with them. Through their intelligence, hard work, optimistic spirit, and dedication, they have already affected much good in serving others, whether in the field of education, social services, or health care.
Boitumelo, a married mother of four, has been a nursing assistant at Pabalelong Hospice since 2015. A 10-month caregiving certification course will enhance the loving service she is already giving to critically ill patients.
Mulenga is the only daughter of her widowed mother, an immigrant from Zambia. Her goal is to pursue studies in clinical psychology at the university. She needs only the cost of admission and tuition for the first semester after which she should be approved for a government scholarship.
Peggy, a single mother of a 10-year-old son, has been a teacher at St. Mary’s Preschool in Lobatse since 2018. Her income has been impacted by COVID-19 since March when the school was temporarily closed. A nine-month early childhood certification course will help her to be an even better educator when the school re-opens.
Refilwe, a single mother of two, serves as a hard-working home-based caregiver under the outreach program of the Pabalelong Hospice. A 10-month caregiving certification course will enhance her skills, efficiency, and passion in her healing ministry.
