Today, we celebrate Independence Day in Kenya! On this day in 1963, Kenya declared independence from Great Britain. Today is also considered Jamhuri Day. Jamhuri is Swahili for the word “republic,” marking today as a celebration of Kenya’s Independence. Kenya is one of six countries where the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth minister.
