The students at St. Francis of Assisi Academy in Marereni celebrated their graduation, marking an important milestone for 45 students. Parents, teachers, and students eagerly awaited the event. Special guests included Fr. Nicholas Kileo, Parish Priest of Gongoni Parish and school director; Mr. Harrison Kalama, the school board chair; Mama Emma Mundu, Chairperson of Marereni Church Council; Sisters Vinaya Chalil and Philomina Hembrom; and members of the PTA Executive.

The ceremony began with the school scouts leading the guests and students in the National Anthem, setting a patriotic tone. Cultural events followed, starting with a welcome dance. The students showcased their talents through performances, including poems and songs. Playgroup students confidently introduced themselves in English and recited action songs. Others expressed gratitude to their teachers through poems. Traditional Giriama songs and dances in cultural attire brought cheer to the audience.

Grade 3 students thanked the administration for adding Grade 4 and congratulated the Pre-Primary 2 graduates. The PTA Chair and Parish Chair expressed gratitude for improvements to the school and acknowledged the Sisters’ contributions over the past three years. Sister Vinaya Chalil thanked the teachers for their dedication and encouraged continued cooperation from parents. She also expressed appreciation to Fr. Kileo and Bishop Willybard Lagho for supporting the school’s renovation through Karibu Malta’s project.

The highlight of the event was the graduation ceremony. Pre-Primary 2 students, dressed in new graduation attire and colorful garlands, marched to the stage with their parents, teachers, and seniors. They introduced themselves proudly and recited poems. They expressed gratitude to their teachers and families through a song and received certificates and gifts from the administration. The students also cut a cake and shared it with their parents and guests.

The celebration concluded with a shared meal. Helen Sathiya, Reema Tigga, and the teachers worked hard to ensure the success of the event. The St. Francis of Assisi Academy community expressed gratitude for all the support and prayers received.
