Foundation Day and Winter Gathering in Massachusetts

Sisters of Charity of Nazareth and Associates in Massachusetts came together recently to celebrate Foundation Day and birthdays, as well as to anticipate St. Nicholas Day and Christmas. SCNs Ann Whittaker and Anne-Marie O’Shea of Catherine Spalding House generously hosted the group with a delicious dinner.

The group prayed, broke bread, and had a special blessing with water from Catherine’s spring. Focal points were the drawing of the foundation cabin at Old St Thomas and the crêche that had been specially handcrafted by Agnes Ellen Rose, SCN (deceased).

It was the first time the group had gathered in person for 2023, so there was a lot of catching up and laughter. The festivities culminated in celebrating Mary Braley and Martha Walsh’s recent birthdays with an ice-cream cake. This was followed by the distribution of gift bags to all for St. Nicholas and Christmas.
The circle of prayer included remembering Sisters who had moved from Massachusetts to Kentucky. Those in Massachusetts hope to be able to meet again in person in the early half of 2024.

Loved seeing you all on the great back porch off the kitchen there. I remember it well. All the best to everyone.

Loved seeing you on the back porch there….saw it several times when I lived and worked in that area. I also enjoyed the long back yard there. Hope you’re both having a beautiful day.
    Love,
