On Feb. 17, the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth mark five years of ministry in Kenya.
Since 2021, Sisters have shared in the life of the people they serve, building relationships, supporting local needs, and witnessing to the mission of the Congregation in a new setting. Their presence reflects a commitment to stand with communities and respond where the need is greatest.
As we remember this anniversary, we ask your prayers for the Sisters serving in Kenya and for the people who walk with them each day. May this ministry continue to grow in strength and purpose in the years ahead.
Sister Vinaya Chalil says, “We will have a special prayer in the evening to recall the countless blessings of God during the past five years of growth of the mission.”
Please join in prayer for the Community in Kenya on this special day.

Congratulations on five years in Kenya, dear SCNs! I was taught by SCNs at the old St. Theresa Academy and later at St. Theresa/Cross Roads School in Rhodelia, Kentucky. I remember Sister Mary Ancilla Meyer telling us about the SCNs going to India in 1950 when I was in the first and second grade. My father bought the old St. Theresa Academy Farm when I was a child so I was close to many, many SCNs all the way up to Sister David Clare Reasbeck and Sister Rosemarie Kirwin and others.! I have followed the missionary expansion of the SCNs into several countries!
As I have mentioned before, “mission fever” must have been passed off to me by the SCNs. I know the map of Kenya because last year I raised the money for St. Veronica Church in the Diocese of Machakos in the town of Kenyatta. I just helped sponsor the finishing of a grade school and another project in Tunduru, Tanzania, for Bishop Filbert Mhasi “Once a missionary, always a missionary?” God bless the mission in Kenya!
