Anne Marie Thayilchirayil, SCN, was given a tearful adieu by her Sisters, family members, parishioners of Gaya, Nazareth Old Students Association, and co-workers. Sister Anne Marie’s mortal remains were brought to Nazareth Convent chapel accompanied by Sisters of Charity of Nazareth and family members.

Sister Jackulin Jesu, read out the message from the Central Leadership Team and shared that, “Sister Anne Marie’s charismatic personality, excellent gifts as an educator, compassionate nature to the marginalized, and welcoming presence earned her the respect and love of everyone in the community and mission.”

Further, she added that she was truly a valiant woman with roots firmly planted in love.

Sister Amrita Manjaly, Provincial of Bangalore Province, gratefully remembered Sister Anne Marie saying that, “Words are not adequate enough to share about her. She said Sister Anne Marie was a legend, treasure, and inspiration to all.

Recalling his past association with Sister Anne Marie, Rev. James George, the Vicar General of Patna Archdiocese said, “Anne Marie listened with ears of tolerance, saw through the eyes of compassion, and spoke with the language of love. She lived like a dictionary, giving meaning to all who referred her. It is a tall order for us to follow”.

The chapel was filled with a good number of people including teaching and non-teaching staff, parents, and well-wishers who came from Gaya, where she served many years till the end.

May her soul rest in peace!
