This house is being built in memory of Jerry Ballard and Bill Sprigg by their children and family friends. Ellen and Bill Sprigg have been fortunate to volunteer on previous builds and felt inspired to build a house in memory of their fathers. They have 10 family and friends joining them on the build.
Our parents were hard working men who instilled in our families a good work ethic, strong faith, and service to our church and community. Some things they had in common were their love of sports, gardening, fishing, and a good debate about almost anything! They both had such a love for life and family and a heart for those less fortunate than them. It will be an honor to extend their love to a family in Belize.

What will we be about?

We will focus on meeting people, learning about their culture, making friends and sharing faith, while we work side-by-side with the people of Belize. We will work in collaboration with Hand in Hand ministries to build a simple 16×20 home for a family in need.

What is my cost if I want to join the group and participate in the build?

Trip cost is $1,955 and includes round-trip airfare from Louisville, KY, lodging and most meals. It does not include personal purchases, dining out, or optional travel insurance.

How long is the Immersion Trip?

Your time in Belize will be from Sunday to Saturday, however orientation will begin on the Friday evening before your departure to Belize. It you are traveling from out of town lodging will be available at the St. Joseph Volunteer House on Nazareth campus. We will begin with a meet & greet and dinner on Friday evening. Saturday you will begin with a commissioning ceremony at St. Vincent Church followed by lunch and orientation.

What is the typical size of group?

Typically up to 12 volunteer per trip.

Day 2 (Saturday) – Commissioning Ceremony & Orientation

Day 3 (Sunday) – Depart to Belize

Day 4 (Monday) – Begin house build

Day 5 (Tuesday) – Continue house build

Day 6 (Wednesday) – Continue house build

Day 7 (Thursday) – Finish house & House blessing

Day 8 (Friday) – Day at Caye Caulker

Day 9 (Saturday) – Depart to Nazareth, KY
