Appalachia Mission Trip
July 12, 2022 - July 15, 2022
$150
Ordinarily, each mission starts at Nazareth, Kentucky where the SCN’s began over 200 years ago, with an orientation and team gathering. The team will then travel to Beattyville, Kentucky and collaborate with Kentucky Cornerstone Ministries. The group will be assigned to work sites for home repair projects, such as interior/exterior home renovations, power washing, painting, or organizing a food pantry or mission store. You will work side-by-side with the homeowners who are capable of helping and learn about their stories.
Trip Cost: $150
Price includes lodging, most meals (travels days you cover your own meals), building materials, and transportation.
Where will we stay? We stay at Kentucky Cornerstone Ministries. The house consist of two large bunk rooms, six restrooms and showers, gathering area, chapel, kitchen, and dining room. The group will cook their meals and pack sack lunches to take to the worksite. No Wi-Fi available and limited cell service.
All Faiths Welcomed. We are an organization rooted in the Catholic faith, but we embrace people of all beliefs. We will share prayer and reflections during the week.
Skills Needed. Skills are not needed, but you may learn new ones! If you do have skills it would certainly be a blessing.
Why do we collaborate with Kentucky Cornerstone? This ministry was founded by Ms. Dora Ross. She has welcomed mission teams since 1996 to meet the needs of the people in the area. Our SCN Volunteer Program has collaborated with her for many years and we have enjoyed being part of this faith-filled and hope-filled ministry.
