Belize SCNAs Deliver Meals Those in Need

Last Friday, dedicated Associates in Belize came together to prepare and deliver 50 hot, homemade meals to the homeless population in the community. The effort is part of their commitment to reach out to the marginalized population.

Serving Our ‘Gate Guests’

At the SCN Center Belize, a less highlighted yet significant ministry involves the feeding of “gate guests” – individuals facing homelessness or difficulty securing meals.

A Home in Honor of Sister Evie

Sister Evelyn Hurley, celebrated her 109th birthday March 7. In anticipation and recognition of the event, a lay missionary group traveled to Belize in February under the guidance of Sister Luke Boiarski, a dear friend of Sister Evelyn’s. The group’s mission was to build a home, in Sister Evelyn’s honor, for Dorla and her 6-year-old grandson, Tephawn. The missionary group included Sister Luke, Sister Sangeeta Ayithamattam, Sister Mary Ann Connolly, SC (Halifax), and six of Sister Evelyn’s family members.

A Heartfelt Valentine

Sister Carlette Gentle champions hope, joy, and community among seniors through the program Living Independently in Full Existence (LIFE). A recent highlight was the Valentine’s Day celebration attended by 60 out of 100 seniors served by LIFE.

Belize City Associates Gather
Belize City Associates Gather

The Belize City SCNA group assembled recently, advancing their efforts in organizing activities and setting definitive dates to achieve the objectives they established for the year. These objectives were shaped by the resolutions made during the General Assembly, focusing on enhancing spiritual growth for personal and communal transformation, reinforcing the bonds within their community, addressing the needs of those facing oppression and marginalization, and advocating for peace and environmental sustainability. After approximately three monthly sessions dedicated to planning and strategizing, their mission continues to evolve. The Associates are enthusiastic about deepening their collective spiritual journey, initiating projects aimed at supporting those in need and contributing to the preservation of the environment.
