As part of actualizing the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth Congregational goal of caring for the earth, SCNs at Nazareth Convent, Mokama had some input on grafting, rooting, collecting seeds and preservation of these seeds. The resource persons were Mr. Mukesh Kumar and Chandan Kumar, both horticulturists and well-experienced farmers at Mokama. SCN novices, employees of Nazareth Convent and Hospital, and SCNs Asha Bage, Tripti Sah, Prabha Tirkey and Vimala Karakattu participated in the input session.
The resource persons shared with us the values of caring for the earth, trees and flowers. Trees and plants supply oxygen to humans and animals. Of course, humans and animals experience emotional well-being when they come in contact with nature.
There was time for exchange of ideas and experiences among the participants. A practical session on grafting and rooting was conducted on the campus. All the participants and observers appreciated the contribution and promised to care for nature wherever they are at a particular time.
