Sister Higinia Bol, who ministers at St. Peter Claver Parish, has been appointed director of the new Good Shepherd Retreat Center in San Antonio Village in the Toledo District of Belize. The center is a new initiative created to serve the village churches throughout the Toledo District. It will support parishioners from 32 village churches connected to St. Peter Claver Parish. The mission of the Good Shepherd Retreat Center is to strengthen the spiritual life of parishioners and provide formation opportunities for catechists and our community as a whole. Rooted in the Gospel and the cultural traditions of the Mayan people, the center will accompany women, men, and families as they grow as disciples of Jesus Christ.
Through prayer, study, and pastoral outreach, the center will prepare leaders to serve their communities, honor the dignity of every person, and support the spiritual life of the parish. The mission centers on the image of the Good Shepherd who knows, calls, and leads people toward unity, holiness, and fullness of life.
