Associates and the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth gathered at Metsimotlhabe on Saturday for their formation day combined with the celebration of the Feast of St. Vincent de Paul. The theme of the day was “Baptize and Send” the theme of the Extraordinary Mission Month declared by Pope Francis.
Fr. Tsiamo Makaba, one of the young priests of the Diocese of Gaborone introduced the group to the theme. At the Eucharistic celebration, two Associate candidates made their first commitment. The group also had invited the members of the Vincent de Paul Society of Gaborone region to join them for the workshop, liturgy and feast day celebration.
After lunch Sister Nalini Meachariyil gave a brief introduction to Vincentian Family, emphasizing the need for formalizing and strengthening the Vincentian Family in Botswana, even though Botswana has only two branches who follow the spirituality of Vincent de Paul – Vincent de Paul Society and Sisters of Charity of Nazareth. Sisters of Charity mandated a calling for a formal meeting with the National Superior Council of the Vincent de Paul Society to plan the way forward. A good start indeed.
Thank you for sharing our Vincentian charism! Sprouts of new growth!
What an inspirational event – may God bless you all in many special ways as you continue to spread the charity charism.
Congratulations!!! Catherine must be smiling down on Botswana and all your efforts!
What a wonderful Gathering of Associates and Sisters! I hope all went well with your formation day and celebration of the Feast of St. Vincent de Paul.
