Navjyoti School, Surkhet, made history in sports as its senior girls’ 3×3 basketball team earned its first-ever podium finish in an interschool basketball tournament. The team competed in the Inter-School Basketball Tournament, held July 4–6 and organized by the Nepal Basketball Association, Karnali Province, in Birendranagar, Surkhet.

The tournament brought together teams from schools across the region. Displaying exceptional teamwork, determination, and sportsmanship, the Navjyoti team secured third place and earned the bronze medal.

The team was represented by Khusi Thapa (Class X), Indira Rana (Class IX) and Pushparamjali Magar (Class IX). Adding to this remarkable achievement, Khusi Thapa received the Best Player Trophy for her outstanding performance throughout the tournament.

This achievement holds special significance because it marks the first time Navjyoti School’s senior girls’ basketball team participated in an interschool basketball tournament. The team proudly showcased its talent and determination while bringing home the school’s first-ever interschool basketball trophy, along with bronze medals and certificates. It is a historic milestone and a memorable moment for Navjyoti School.

This success reflects the hard work, perseverance, and commitment of the players, as well as the guidance and encouragement of the team’s coach, Mr. Narayan Thapa. His commitment to developing young athletes played a vital role in the team’s success.
