Sister Carlette Gentle champions hope, joy, and community among seniors through the program Living Independently in Full Existence (LIFE). A recent highlight was the Valentine’s Day celebration attended by 60 out of 100 seniors served by LIFE, featuring games, food, surprise prizes, and birthday celebrations. This event underscores Sister Carlette’s commitment to fostering life-affirming activities. In attendance was a senior who had once expressed to Sister Carlette a deep reliance on LIFE for their zest for life, saying, “I hope I die before LIFE dies because if LIFE ceases to exist, then I will die too. LIFE gives me life.” This sentiment echoes the vital impact of LIFE on its senior participants.

Additionally, Sister Sangeeta and Sister Jolaine played roles in this community event. Sister Jolaine took part in meal and cake preparations, and both contributed their services during the event, enhancing the sense of community and support.

Sister Sangeeta also joined Sister Carlette for home visits, along with two staff members, to better understand the seniors’ lives, their community, and the challenges they face while also witnessing their resilience, hope, and joy. These efforts illustrate the profound influence of LIFE in nurturing a sense of belonging and joy among seniors, spearheaded by Sister Carlette and supported by her colleagues.
